About Us

Info about the family room:
Grandpont Nursery School Association is a small community led charity. Our work is funded by the charity since our county council ceased funding us in April 2017. We want to help improve outcomes for vulnerable and disadvantaged young children and their families who come to the family room & in the local community. We aim to help close the attainment gap for disadvantaged children. We will nurture babies, pre-school children & families’ health & wellbeing by promoting healthy eating & active free play outside & in.
Our 3 part time staff run vital Stay & Play sessions for parents & young children, & act as a food bank location. We have been open running outdoor activities over much of the Coronavirus pandemic as soon as restrictions allowed however the pandemic has hit our funds & our ability to fundraise.
Many families attending are vulnerable & in need of our support, some through poverty, family breakup or children with additional needs. A large number of families are multi-lingual. Some parents have health problems themselves or are struggling with parenthood day to day. They have told us that they find coming to the family room provides opportunities to chat with others, improve their English, make friends & play with their children in a safe & stimulating environment.
