In October 2021, our Year 5 and Year 6 (9-11 yr old) children have the opportunity to experience a residential trip at Outward Bound’s Howtown centre on the shores of Ullswater in the Lake District. This will be a residential trip like no other, helping children gain life skills, team work skills and independence, as well as challenging themselves physically (rock-climbing, fell walking, lake swimming and potholing, amongst other endurance experiences), and becoming braver than they ever thought they could be. After a year of lockdowns and restrictions, now more than ever, these once in a lifetime trips will make a world of difference to the confidence and ambitions of these young children.
This trip will cost over £500 per pupil. As a school we contribute to the overall cost of the trip, and alongside generous support from the Outward Bound Trust this helps to bring the original cost per child down to £270 per child making it more affordable for all of our families. However, this is still out of reach for a number of our families and both Greenfields and our pupils would like to invite you to sponsor our fund and help a child join us on this life-changing trip.
