Danecourt School

About Us

Hello we are Danecourt Special School

Danecourt is a special school catering for primary aged children who have special educational needs. The school caters for children with a wide breadth of need including complex learning difficulties, autism and social emotional mental health needs.

At Danecourt our mission is to provide all pupils with a “stimulating learning environment that allows children to explore through a personalised curriculum to become STARS”

Self Reliant

Team Player

The staff at Danecourt strive to ensure all our children achieve their maximum potential; celebrating difference and encouraging curiosity and creativity.

Why we're raising money

We want to Imagine the Impossible and raise £150,000 for an immersive classroom for our children at Danecourt.

What is an immersive classroom?

Imagine swimming with dolphins, floating with bubbles, or joining a spacecraft in flight.

With an immersive classroom all these things are possible!

An immersive room will allow us to bring the real world into our school giving our children experiences that they may not ordinarily encounter.

The immersive classroom combines three interactive film walls with projected images and controllable lights, sounds, temperature, vibrations - even smells

We want all our children to explore the world in the fullest way possible and an immersive classroom allows them to do this but in a completely safe environment.

As you can see from the film above the children responded amazingly to the mobile immersive classroom- just think of all the things the children could experience if we had a permanent classroom at school.

We aim to raise £150,000 for all the sensory experiences needed at Danecourt and with your help we can do it.

We would also love to offer others the immersive experience and although the classroom will be primarily for the children at Danecourt School, we aim to let it to others, for example: other schools in Medway, toddler groups, local charities, care homes and elderly groups.

Please support us to "Imagine the Impossible" and help us in any way you can.

Thank you.

Lauren's African Trek

I'm Lauren, a teacher at Danecourt School.I will be completing a five-day trek covering 100km passing through Morocco’s forbidding landscape punctuated by peaks, gorges, dunes and oases.  At night, I will be sleeping under Africa’s star strewn skies. This challenge goes beyond the Jebel Saghro region, starting on the Maider El Kbir plateau, before ascending Jebel El Mrakib, and admiring the stunning views. Walking through palm gorges, the route joins the dry Rhris River and heads towards an oasis of tamarisk trees. The final days are spent trekking along the Tikertouachene River.  Wish me Luck!!
