Reading @ Redwood

Redwood Park Academy

About Us

Redwood Park Academy is a special school in Portsmouth with 152 children on roll who are between 11 and 16 years old. Our children have complex learning difficulties and many face a high level of disadvantage.  For example, 68% are entitled to Free School Meals.

Despite these challenges, our children make excellent progress.  In 2021, 100% moved onto college provision. There is a strong emphasis on our children developing their preparation for adulthood skills and the teaching and learning of skills that enable them to become confident, independent and resilient young people.

Why we're raising money

Reading @ Redwood is a project to completely renovate our library.  Our vision is for the library to become a hub to enable our children to enjoy stories in all of their different forms both visual and verbal, on paper and on screen.

We would like it to be a place where our children want to be, whether relaxing on soft seating, enjoying audio books, browsing a magazine or exploring the e-book library. We want to make stories and texts accessible to the range of children that attend Redwood and most of all we want to encourage a life long love of books and reading.

We’ve almost raised a staggering £14,000.   We have just under £4,000 left to raise.  CAN YOU HELP US?

Let’s make this project happen for 2022.  Let’s make it a happy story for our children and help them to develop a love of reading for the rest of their lives.
