Usk Hot Food Kitchen

Usk Hot Food Kitchen

SS David Lewis and Francis Xavier Parish, Usk

About Us

Week in, week out, we nourish the hungry and lonely in our community with delicious meals and friendship.

Our Hot Food Kitchen is run out of St. David Lewis & St Francis Xavier Church in Usk. Volunteers at the Food Kitchen in Porthycarne Street have cooked and delivered more than 5,000 hot meals, free of charge, since 2020.

The Food Kitchen was started early in the pandemic to help local people in need caused by unemployment, illness, disability or homelessness. Requests for meals come from a variety of sources, from individuals in distress or relatives living away. Neighbours often ask for support for loved ones or friends who find cooking for themselves difficult. People convalescing after hospital stays are also readily supported by the Food Kitchen as are those in financial difficulties.

If you know someone who needs our help please do get in touch.

Why we're raising money

It is clear that loneliness and need is experienced by many people, even in such a lovely place as Usk. The Hot Food Kitchen – and the support that we offer those in need – is required as much today as when we first opened our doors.

Our work is only made possible thanks to the kindness and generosity of our supporters. The Hot Food Kitchen is run entirely by volunteers so every penny donated goes directly to helping our vulnerable Friends who might be lonely or living in poverty.

We receive no government funding, so the charitable support of our caring supporters it vital to keeping our doors open for those in need. Each and every donation is a huge act of kindness, thank you.

P.S. We are on the lookout for new volunteers. If you would like to get involved with our friendly team please contact Gloria to find out more details on 07429 023 559.
