About Us
St Joseph’s Catholic Church is located in the Cathays area of Cardiff. We are a wonderfully diverse community. Many of our families are health care workers at the University Hospital of Wales- a short walk from our church. Our community comes from across the world! Our parish has strong and long established links with St Joseph’s Primary School and St Joseph’s Sports and Social Club which offers a wide variety of sport and social opportunities to people of all ages.
Our community has had a difficult and challenging period over the last two years when many of our usual links and activities have been curtailed due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
We have arranged a Sponsored Family Fun
Bike, Trike and Scooter Ride at Maindy Stadium Cycle Track in Cathays, CF14 3AJ
on Saturday 7th May from 2.00pm. The management at Maindy Stadium
has generously supported us by donating the use of the cycle track. The event
will be open to all members of our community. There will be a designated area
for our very young children who have trikes and scooters. This will include an
additional fun obstacle course for the youngsters.
Why we're raising money
This event will serve two main purposes. It will be the first event we have had since Covid began to bring our community together again - our church, our school and our parish social club.
Second, it will provide an opportunity to fundraise to support our community meeting hub – the church buildings and rooms within, including our new roof project. From our Senior Citizens Group to our youngest primary school children – our whole community is involved in our Church and makes good use of our facilities, which desperately need a new lick of paint and some TLC.
So far we have raised just over £19,000 of the £34,000 we need to cover the cost of essential repairs to our church roof.
We would feel overwhelmed if our Family Fun Bike, Trike and Scooter Ride could go some way towards the £15,000 we still need to raise to complete all our current renovation projects.
