St Laurence's Larder and open
Kitchen, “The Larder” is a charity that provides a warm welcome, hot meals and
food provision to those in hardship in our community and beyond. We are based
in Brondesbury Park on Christchurch Avenue in the London borough of Brent.
The Larder has been running for over 9 years and become a registered charity in 2019. Each month our team of volunteers provide around 600 hours of their time freely to enable the Larder to operate.
At The Larder our main objective is to ensure that no one goes hungry once they reach our doors. We operate on a no referral needed premise and limited questions approach. Our offer to our guests is:
-Food essential parcels
-Clothes including shoes and socks
-A place to have a shower (If homeless or no access to a shower)
-Washing machine facilities.
We also support our local school with donations of food.
The Larder works in partnership with other charities and statutory agencies to address the “causes of poverty “as well as the “relief of poverty.” Our guests have access to advice and support from partner agencies such as Ashford place, B3 and Brent hubs. We also work closely with other local organisations including SUFRA NW London and Gift your Neighbour.
And lastly but most importantly we offer a warm welcome and safe space to anyone in need.
We open to guests every Thursday from 11-1.30pm
Why we're raising money
The Larder is raising money so we
can continue to provide for our guests and to ensure the sustainability of the
charity and the impact that it makes in the community of Brent.
We are currently helping up to 60 households
weekly with food aid and would like to continue to widen our network and impact
in the borough.
To sustain the charity we need money to buy food for our guests and to meet our running costs such as utilities to run our cooker, washing machine and showers.
