Support the Orthodox Church of St Nectarios in Battersea

St Nectarios, Battersea

About Us

In response to requests following our live streaming services from St Nectarios Church, Battersea we have been asked to provide details of how to make donations to support the Church and its outreach work.

It is fair to say that without the money from the donation plate that you all kindly contribute to, it would be difficult to meet all our running costs. Around 75% of our budget is supported by the weekly collection plate. It costs on average approximately £3,500 per month to run the Church. Any donations received during these difficult times will be greatly appreciated.

You will be aware we are continuing to serve the community with a live stream of the daily services from our beloved Church. Please join us at our Facebook link below. The services are broadcast twice a day. In addition, the Church is reaching out with live streaming of bible classes.

You can make a donation by clicking on the DONATE button on the top right hand corner of this page. You will have a choice of making a one-off donation or a regular monthly gift. Please don’t forget to tick the Gift Aid box so that we can claim Gift Aid on your donation, boosting each eligible one by 25%!

Please note that whilst InvestMyCommunity does not charge you a payment processing fee, if you use a credit card your payment may be treated as a cash transaction by the card issuer and fees charged accordingly a debit card is recommended to save you extra charges.

Every single donation helps and is gratefully received. Thank you for your support!

Evangelia Haji-Savva

In memory of Evangelia Haji-Savva, fondly known to the Orthodox Community of St Nectarios as 'Mama Evangelia'. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin, aunty and god-mother. Evangelia was also a true servant of God and St Nectarios Church, where she committed her last 21 years and received so much in return. It is the wish of Evangelia's family that her legacy continues by donations to the house of God she so loved. May her memory be eternal.

Zacharias Christoforou

Zacharias ChristoforouBorn in Syngrasi - Cyprus 9 November 1939Zacharias sadly passed away on Monday, 15th February 2021 at the age of 81.He contracted Covid on 31st December whilst convalescing after having surgery. He fought this illness and we all felt so lucky that he had beaten it to come home to his family. Unfortunately, we were wrong and almost 3 weeks later God took him away from us. He leaves behind his wife Androulla from Yerani and together, they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this August. Zacharias had three children; Chris, Maria and Koulla; Son-in-laws George and Zacharias and six grandchildren; Andreas, Chris, Phoebe, Martha, Demitris and Christina and many much loved relatives and friends. He loved his family and their achievements in life and nothing made him happier than when we were all together having a meal or a BBQ, a drink and a laugh.Zacharias was one of 6 siblings who travelled from Cyprus to England in the 50s to work and find a better life.He worked for many years as a car mechanic in South London and was well known in the community.Zacharias was a happy, friendly, smiley man who loved to have a chat with everyone he met. Unfortunately, in later years his hearing deteriorated and he could not always hear what people were saying. He loved to watch all sports but most of all he loved football and his beloved Tottenham Hotspur. The funeral will take place Thursday 18th March at The Greek Orthodox Church of St Nectarios and he will be laid to rest at Morden Cemetery.Instead of flowers the family have asked that donations are made to St Nectarios Church, who have been very supportive to the family and the community for many years. His memory will live on through his children and grandchildren as we will raise a glass to Zacharias when we can all be together soon and remember the happy times.  We will miss him very much and he will always be in our hearts and prayers .
