There are over 200 players within the junior /youth section currently with plans to expand this number . Welshpool Juniors makes a major contribution to the health and well being of young people in the town and surrounding area. This is particularly important as the community recovers form the effects of the COVID pandemic.
As you know the loss of the 3 Salop Road pitches has impacted significantly on junior, women and youth football as well as placing considerable additional pressure on the coaches.
Welshpool Juniors has been working closely with the Salop Road Community Group to find a way of replacing these pitches.
Why we're raising money
We now have a way forward
We have not only identified suitable land but also;
1. agreed provisional terms on the land
2. submitted a planning application to change use from agricultural to recreational
We want to begin work in preparing the land for pitches in April 2022 to get them ready for the 2022/23 season if possible. It has been long enough and we don't want any further delay.
We estimate that the costs will be in the region of £60-70,000. We will try to raise this money from grants, donations and community fundraising activities.
AND THIS IS WHERE WE NEED YOU. we want to raise £30,000 of this through COMMUNITY DONATIONS
Your investment in this project will provide support to a cause which will help young people for many years to come. This is why we see this as an INVESTMENT in young people and their health and well-being as well as being an investment in the town.
